Western Sydney University Joins FISU Healthy Campus As Newest Signatory

UniSport Australia is excited to announce Western Sydney University as the newest Australian university to join the global FISU Healthy Campus program, demonstrating its dedication to fostering a vibrant, wellbeing-focused campus life.

Western Sydney University’s decision to become a signatory follows in the wake of them ranking number one in the world for four consecutive years in the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings, which evaluates how a university supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals based on real-world impact.

By now joining the FISU Healthy Campus community, Western Sydney University is reinforcing their dedication to social impact, sustainable practices and progressive education, setting a benchmark for universities globally and putting them in a unique position to promote health and wellbeing within the higher education sector.

Western Sydney University’s Pro Vice-Chancellor for Student Success, Professor Alphia Possamai-Inesedy, highlighted the foundations of the university’s triumphs, stating that “Western Sydney University’s success is built on creating an environment where students not only achieve academically but also feel a strong sense of belonging and wellbeing.” She also discussed how joining FISU Healthy Campus will only strengthen this basis, saying “Our participation in the FISU Healthy Campus Programme affirms this commitment, ensuring that health, inclusion, and sustainability are central to the student experience. When students are supported holistically, their potential to succeed and contribute meaningfully to society is maximized.”

UniSport Australia CEO Mark Sinderberry welcomed the announcement, saying “Western Sydney University’s commitment to the FISU Healthy Campus program strengthens their already admirable position as a leader in creating healthier university communities, and they will enhance the network greatly.”

Western Sydney University’s leadership in both THE Impact Rankings and now as a FISU Healthy Campus member embodies a comprehensive approach to university education, integrating academic achievement with wellbeing and social responsibility, placing them among leading institutions worldwide whilst boosting Australia’s reputation as a nation committed to university sport, health, and wellbeing.
