Murdoch University Awarded Platinum Level Accreditation In The FISU Healthy Campus Program

In August 2025, Murdoch University was awarded Platinum level accreditation in the FISU Healthy Campus program. This accomplishment establishes them as the only university in Western Australia to achieve this status, and the second university Australia-wide.

The FISU Healthy Campus Platinum Level Accreditation designation is a testament to excellence shown across various aspects of campus wellbeing, including physical activity, mental health, nutrition, sustainability and social responsibility, with Murdoch University’s achievement highlighting their commitment to fostering a health and wellbeing-focused environment for students and staff.

Murdoch’s path to Platinum status was driven by multiple initiatives targeted at a range of wellbeing pillars, ranging from physical, mental and emotional wellbeing, sustainable and inclusive environments, and community and social connection. Projects such as increasing staff and student access to recreational, fitness and leisure activities have been implemented, and enhancing mental health services and peer support programs through partnerships between Murdoch Active, and the Murdoch University Medical Service and Counselling Service. They also provide access to clean and fresh drinking water in all buildings on campus, and have an ongoing commitment to sustainability, accessibility and inclusion. Community engagement and student-led programs have also been established, including support of Rebound WA and Proudly Productive.

Murdoch Active Manager Jamie Ball spoke about how the Platinum FISU status is a fantastic accomplishment for Murdoch University, with the “achievement being a testament to the culture we’ve built at Murdoch. A culture that priorities wellbeing, inclusivity and sustainability.”

As a FISU Healthy Campus signatory, Murdoch University is setting the standard in Australia by driving positive change across campus life and reinforcing its commitment to the health, wellbeing and connectedness of its community.
