Australia hosts first in-person FISU Healthy Campus Auditor Workshop

UniSport Australia was proud to be a part of a historic milestone in university sport last week, as we welcomed FISU’s first-ever in-person Healthy Campus Auditor Workshop to Adelaide.

Held on 19 May alongside our National Conference, the six-hour workshop was co-led by Fernando Parente, FISU’s Director of Development and Healthy Campus, and Martin Doulton, FISU Senior Executive Committee Member and a long-standing contributor to the Australian university sport community. The event brought together 24 new FISU Healthy Campus Auditors from the UniSport network, all experienced professionals committed to building healthier, more connected campus communities.

The session highlighted the strength and collaboration across the Australian university sport sector and reaffirmed our collective potential to contribute to global wellbeing outcomes through sport, health, and education.

Attendees were guided through the full audit process, including planning, organisation, management and reporting, as part of the FISU Healthy Campus programme, which continues to gain traction in Australia. Thirteen Australian universities are now signed onto the initiative, with five already achieving certification among a global cohort of 184 institutions.

A standout moment of the week was the formal recognition of La Trobe University as the first Australian campus to complete the full Healthy Campus audit. During the UniSport National Conference, La Trobe Sport’s Senior Manager Nick Lambert was presented with the Healthy Campus certificate by FISU Secretary General and CEO Matthias Remund, a proud moment for both the university and the wider UniSport community.
