UniSport Australia (UniSport) is proud to welcome The University of Queensland (UQ) to the FISU Healthy Campus program, advancing their dedication to fostering a thriving campus environment that prioritises the health and wellbeing of the UQ community.

UQ’s decision to join Healthy Campus aligns with its Strategic Plan 2026-2029, which has a focus on enhancing the student experience through strengthened support services and a strong sense of belonging across campus. It also builds on UQ’s long-standing commitment to fostering a safe and healthy campus environment, as outlined in their Health, Safety and Wellness Strategy 2022-2026 which reinforces leadership accountability and places the safety and wellbeing of students and staff at the centre of university operations.

Ranked among the world’s top 50 universities, UQ’s involvement in the Healthy Campus program further highlights their position as a leader in advancing best-practice approaches to the student experience.

Through a wide range of campus initiatives, UQ actively supports student wellness across physical, mental, and social domains. These include counselling and mental health services, health promotion programs, sport and recreation facilities, and initiatives that encourage an active and connected campus life. Wellbeing is also embedded within UQ’s broader sustainability and engagement approach, recognising that healthy individuals and communities are essential to long-term educational success and social impact.

UQ Sport CEO, Ian Fitzpatrick, spoke to the significance of UQ joining the FISU Healthy Campus program and the value of engaging with a global community of universities.

“UQ is excited to join the global network of Healthy Campus Members, and looks forward to learning and taking inspiration from the amazing work done around the world by universities to encourage students, campus communities and the wider community to engage in a healthy and active lifestyle.”

UniSport Australia CEO Mark Sinderberry welcomed UQ’s decision to join the initiative, saying, “This signing is a strong endorsement of UQ’s focus on student wellbeing and their commitment to fostering an inclusive, active and supportive campus culture as a leading global university.”

Through joining the FISU Healthy Campus program, UQ strengthens its connection to an international community of universities focused on student health, wellbeing and enhancing the campus experience, providing further opportunities to engage with global innovative approaches and bring new insights into the university environment.

Welcome to the Healthy Campus community, UQ!
